Since 1979, the Boston Acoustics brand has been known for producing top of the line audio equipment. The Boston Acoustics line includes some of the best home audio/video speaker systems on the market. Boston Acoustics has made a commitment to use only the finest materials in their products. We carry a variety of their fantastic home audio/video products including home theater surround sound systems, home audio speakers, and more. In part 1 of our series on Boston Acoustics home audio products, we will discuss bookshelf speakers, in-ceiling speakers, and in-wall speakers.

If you are looking to build a great home audio system, the Boston Acoustics E series speakers are a great place to look first. E series speakers are specifically designed for bookshelves, cabinets, and counter tops. These speakers sit inside of a walnut enclosure and they are designed to fit alongside the smooth edges and corners commonly found on bookshelves and cabinets. These speakers are available in both 4-1/2” and 5-1/4” sizes. Despite their diminutive dimensions, these speakers fill the room with extremely clear sound.

You can choose between the black and cherry versions to match these speakers with your living room décor. To really create an ultimate setup, check out the custom speaker stand designed for the E series speakers, the Boston Acoustics EFL stand. These aluminum stands are compatible with E40, E50, E60 and E70 speakers. These floor stands also neatly hide the speaker wiring so that you can keep your bookshelf and countertop free from clutter. It creates a tidy look that blends in with the rest of your furniture. To further integrate these speakers with your home’s interior design, you can paint the GroovLock side panels with the color of your choice.

In terms of performance, these speakers pack plenty of punch for their size. The 4-1/2” Boston Acoustics E40 (Cherry) can handle 200 watts of continuous power. In comparison, the 5-1/4” Boston Acoustics E60 can handle up to 250 watts of RMS power. If you want even more power, the E70 is a dual 5-1/4” bookshelf speaker that carries 300 watts of continuous power. Besides handling lows and bass, these models will also provide accurate highs through their built-in 1” tweeters.

Besides the E series, we also carry a few other types of Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers. The HS60 is a 6-1/2” bookshelf speaker rated at 60 watts of RMS power. This 2-way 6.5” speaker includes a silver grille and, like the speakers in the E series, they also feature MagnaGuard technology to prevent the speaker from distorting the television screen. Another option is the Boston Acoustics MCS130 LCR 2-way bookshelf speakers, which features dual 3-1/2” mid-bass drivers. Rated at 150 watts of power, this speaker also has a 1” soft dome tweeter for handling all of the high notes.

Boston Acoustics in-wall / in-ceiling speakers are a great option for those who want great home speakers but do want to use shelf space. Once mounted these ceiling / in-wall speakers are practically invisible but they provide enough sound to fill up the entire room. The Boston Acoustics DSi280 8” in-wall / ceiling speakers add dynamic sound to the room without wasting space. These rectangular speakers can be installed in any of your walls or ceilings. If you plan to install speakers into the ceiling, another great option is the Boston Acoustics DSi285 8” ceiling speakers. These in-ceiling speakers add great sound to the room without clashing with the room’s décor. These round in-ceiling speakers work great with home theater systems and help create a movie theater atmosphere when watching movies.

That wraps up part 1 of the Boston Acoustics home audio series. In our next post we will discuss some of the hottest Boston Acoustics home theater systems, home subwoofers, loudspeakers, and computer speakers.
