DLS is known for making outstanding drivers that are engineered with precision and ridiculously high standards. They are also known for being able to reproduce a well balanced sound that is not too loud or damaging to the ear, this the main reason for their use of soft dome tweeters. However not everyone has that preference when it comes to sound reproduction, more so Generation Y who love to listen to music at really high levels. Enter the DLS X-Program, this program was specifically designed to meet the needs of those who wanted high level outputs but still wanted that DLS quality and performance. The X-Program features products in all car audio, that is to say speakers, amplifiers and subwoofers. X-Program subwoofers are available in an 8”, 10” and 12” model and are able to handle from 150 watts RMS to 250 watts RMS within their respective models. These DLS car subwoofers feature the high-end quality that is DLS but at a price that is affordable to all, and more importantly are able reproduce efficient bass without the need of excessive power.
DLS X-WB08
The X-WB08 is the 8” subwoofer in the DLS X-Program. Its small size and power handling rating of 600 watts peak and 150 watts RMS, and use of a Single 4 ohm Voice Coil, make it the perfect subwoofer to use when replacing a factory subwoofer that has blown or when wanting to get higher quality bass without having to completely upgrade your factory system. The X-WB08 is perfectly suitable for either a vented enclosure or sealed enclosure allowing you to meet your personal preference with ease. The subwoofer features a reinforced carbon fiber non-pressed paper woofer cone. This will give you high quality bass reproduction that is often not found in other woofers that use polypropylene cones. Paper cones produce the highest quality of sound and DLS has reinforced their cone to make sure it not only sounds great but can’t keep up with the harsh environments of high bass output. For a complete X-Program experience the 8” X-WB08 is best matched with the X-D10 Monoblock Class D X-Program amplifier.
DLS X-WB10
The X-WB10 is the 10” subwoofer in the DLS X-Program and also features a reinforced carbon fiber non-pressed paper woofer cone for quality and optimum performance. This woofer has a higher power handling rating of 800 watts peak and 200 watts RMS giving you a little more power handling than the 8” model. The difference here is the excursion, from a 6mm excursion in the 8” to a 9mm excursion in the 10” model. When you are dealing with excursion and such small parameters a 3mm increase is a big deal. This subwoofer is also designed to work well in either a sealed enclosure or vented enclosure, allowing you to decide if you want to focus on SPL or SQ. The 10” model features a Single 2 ohm Voice Coil and frequency response of 25-2,000 Hz. This 10” X-WB10 subwoofer is also best matched with the X-D10 DLS car amplifier.
DLS X-WB12
The X-WB12 is the 12” and last model subwoofer in the DLS-Xprogram. It has a power handling of 1000 watts peak and 250 watts RMS with an excursion of 9mm. Much like the other woofers this sub also features a reinforced carbon fiber non-pressed paper woofer cone for unsurpassed performance and a chrome steel basket for rigidity and longevity. The size of the woofer allows it to cover more surface area and thus producing lower bass reproduction. The 12” woofer however is designed for a sealed subwoofer enclosure focusing more on SQ than SPL but still delivering a deep and rich bass. The X-WB12 can also be matched perfectly with the X-D10 car amplifier.
